Venue & Accomodation
- The conference will be held on the University of Alberta campus in the Engineering Teaching and Learning Facility (ETLC) and the Natural Resources Engineering Facilty (NREF). Enter using the East doors of the ETLC and join us on the second floor Atrium for breakfast and registration. This is where our panels and breakout sessions will take place. Lunches, as well as the May 3 Welcome Reception and the May 5 Closing Reception, will also be held here.
- Using transit to get to the AGC is recommended. U of A is serviced by an Edmonton Transit bus and LRT station. You can plan your route using the ETS Trip Planner. If you choose to drive, there are several surface and covered parking options on campus. The closest is the Windsor Car Park, but there is an interactive parking map with all options.
- The May 4 Career Mixer, Translational Poster session and From the Fire to the Forge takes place at U of A's downtown hub, Enterprise Square. Easily accessible using the LRT (University Station to Bay/Enterprise Square), you'll find this reception on the main floor of the building.
There are a few excellent options for accommodation. Participants can stay on campus in Schaffer Hall for a cost of $69/night for a private, single room. Please click here to open up a reservation form to be completed and sent in.
The Campus Tower Suite Hotel is located next to campus and accommodates parties of up to four. Rates vary, depending on the room. Register by calling the hotel and requesting the excellent U of A rate. You'll need to bring along your conference registration confirmation when you check in. It's a busy time of year for this hotel, so call early.
Hostelling International's Edmonton property is located at 10647 81 Avenue , which is just off Whyte Avenue and roughly 15 blocks from the conference location. The Hostel has offered AGC delegates member rates: Private rooms $62/night; 2-bed dorm (sharing with one other person) $31/night; or an 8-bed dorm $26.50/night.
Mettera and Varscona Hotels have offered delegates to the Alberta Graduate Conference special rates. Both are located on Whyte Avenue near excellent restaurants and Whyte nightlife. Click the link for details on pricing and reservation information.
